Dissertation or Thesis Format:

For a dissertation or master's thesis available from a database service, use this template:

Author, A. A. (2003). Title of doctoral dissertation or master's thesis (Publication No.) [Doctoral dissertation or master's thesis, Name of Institution Awarding the Degree]. Database

 

For an unpublished dissertation or master's thesis, use the following template:

Author, A. A. (1978). Title of doctoral dissertation or master's thesis [Unpublished doctoral dissertation or master's thesis]. Name of Institution.

Technical and Research Reports

General Format for Technical or Research Report:

Author, A. A. (1998). Title of report (Report No. if given). Publisher. DOI or URL

Notes:

  • If the issuing agency or organization assigned a number (e.g. report number, contract number, monograph number) to the report, give that number in parentheses immediately after the title.
  • If you obtained the report from the U.S. Government Printing Office, list the publisher location and name as Washington, DC: Government Printing Office.
  • If the author and the publisher are the same you many exclude the publisher from the citation.

Meetings and Symposia

Symposium:

Contributor, A, A., Contributor, B. B., Contributor, C. C., & Contributor, D. D. (Year, Month Day). Title of contribution [Description of contribution]. In E. E. Chairperson (Chair), Title of Symposium/Conference, Location.

 

Paper presented or poster session:

Presenter, A. A. (Year, Month Day). Title of paper or poster. Paper or poster session presented at the meeting of Organization Name, Location.
