The most common digital repository platforms are DSpace, CONTENTdm, Fedora and Islandora. Some institutions have their institutional repositories built on these platforms, and others choose to have different systems or hosting solutions such as Digital Commons and DuraSpace. OpenDOAR (the Directory of Open Access Repositories) maintains a comprehensive and authoritative list of institutional and subject-based repositories. 

UCF uses several digital repositories and content management systems to deposit scholarly works, cultural heritage materials and other digital collections, including Digital Commons based STARS, Islandora and SobekCM.

• Showcase of Text, Archives, Research & Scholarship (STARS) is UCF's institutional repository dedicated to institutional research outcomes and scholarly publications. It supports Dublin Core metadata.
• The UCF Libraries' Islandora presently hosts local history and culture heritage materials at the library archives and special collections. It supports Dublin Core, Metadata Object Description Schema (MODS), MarcXML and Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard (METS).
• SobekCM currently stores Special Collection materials such as the Digital Library of Caribbean. It also supports Dublin Core, Metadata Object Description Schema (MODS), MarcXML and Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard (METS).
