Abstract

Today’s students live in an information-rich environment where the challenge is not finding information, but  navigating efficiently and effectively through thousands or millions of search results.  Sifting through, evaluating, and critically analyzing information are essential skills students need not only in the classroom, but as citizens of the world. Teaching these information literacy concepts on a scale feasible for a large research university is daunting. The UCF Libraries’ Information Literacy modules attempt to achieve that goal through online instructional tools which were developed to be flexible additions to the curriculum. This poster will describe the genesis of the information literacy modules project, the planning and development phases, and, through four years of data, show the impact and integration of the modules into the curriculum so far.
