ABI Practice Search

From the UCF Library home page (http://library.ucf.edu), access ABI/Inform to look for a peer-reviewed journal article on ethics in research administration.

Click on "Articles and Databases". Type in your 14-digit library ID number and password in the off-campus access box and click on LOGIN. Click on A in the A-Z database list. Find and click on ABI/Inform.

Select Advanced Search (in the top left-hand side).

Look at the fields provided in the drop down menu.

Type ethic* in the first box (include the asterisk) and change the field to Abstract.

Keep the Boolean Operator as And.

Type “research administration” in the second box (include the quotes to search this as a phrase) and leave the field as All Fields + Text.

Do not limit to Full Text. You may exclude some articles that are available in full text by clicking on the SFX feature.

Click on the Search button.

Limit your search to Scholarly Journals (Peer Reviewed Journals does not always work well in this database. It’s a flaw they are working on.)

Look in the right hand column for Sort Results By. Change the dropdown from Relevance to Date (most recent first). Click Sort.

Find the article: Teaching and Assessing the Responsible Conduct of Research: A Delphi Consensus Panel Report.  Is the full text available? __________.

If given a choice, use the PDF version. It will show charts, graphs, images, etc. as they appear in the printed version.

This database allows you to create your own login so searches can be saved and articles can be tagged.

Click on A in the A-Z list and click on ABI/Inform.
