Celebration of Librarian Collaboration: For Transfer Student Success

Program Panelists

 

Aimee deNoyelles joined the Instructional Design team at the UCF Center for Distributed Learning in 2011.  Her main role as Senior Instructional Designer is to guide and collaborate with faculty members as they design online courses.  Her research interests include textbook affordability, online discussion strategies, and technology and gender.  deNoyelles has a BA in psychology from UCF, an MA. in academic psychology from East Carolina University and an EdD in curriculum and instruction with a specialization in instructional design and technology from the University of Cincinnati.

 

 

 

Briyanna Jenkins is the Director of Student Conduct at Seminole State College, where she is responsible for managing the direction of the student conduct process, which largely centers on academic dishonesty and integrity policies.  Prior to coming to Seminole State, she served as the Assistant Director for Housing and Residence Life at the University of Central Florida.  A Florida native, Jenkins holds a BA in English from Florida State University, a M.Ed. from the University of South Florida, and is currently a student in the public affairs PhD program at UCF.

 

 

Karen F. Kaufmann is a research and instruction faculty librarian at Seminole State College.  Her research interests include information literacy, information fluency, user relevance, and user information experience.  Kaufmann holds a PhD in information science from Queensland University of Technology and MLIS from the University of South Florida.  She was a Beta Phi Mu International Library and Information Studies Honor Society recipient of the 2017 Eugene Garfield Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship.  She is the co-author, with Peggy Nuhn, of Supporting Transfer Student Success:  The Essential Role of College and University Libraries.

 

Holly Larson has a master's degree in literature focusing on 20th century working-class literature from the University at Buffalo and a Doctorate in Comparative Studies focusing on alternative forms of knowledge, particularly among poor and working-class American women, from Florida Atlantic University.  Understanding how composition and rhetoric establishes a solid writing foundation for college students both inside and outside of the classroom, Larson has shifted her focus to Writing Studies.  She believes that anyone can write effectively and convincingly; it is a learned behavior like any other activity that takes commitment, time and energy.  Her mission is to make students feel special and comfortable as they unfold as budding intellectuals.

 

Devika Ramsingh has been a librarian for more than 15 years.  She joined Valencia College in 2016 and is the Liaison for Business, Education and Mathematics.  Ramsingh also serves as an adjunct professor in Valencia's Bachelor of Applied Science in Business and Organizational Leadership (BASBOL) program.  Ramsingh's educational credentials include a BA, PG Dip., MIS, MLIS and EMBA.

 

 

 

Jeremy Norton is a Professor of Political Science at Lake-Sumter State College.  He has been with the college for nearly 17 years, both as a faculty librarian and full-time instructor.  Norton is currently co-director for the college's Quality Enhancement Plan on Information Literacy.  He teaches classes on the American national government, international relations, and world geography and is passionate about teaching students about government and their role in the political system.  Norton was named the 2020 Professor of the Year by the Association of Florida Colleges.  

 

 

Jasmine Simmons is a Reference and Instruction Librarian at Lake-Sumter State College where she coordinates and teaches research concepts, creates content for online learning, and always looks for new ways to support student acquisition of information literacy competencies. Her research interests center around student and faculty relationships with information literacy and critical information literacy pedagogy.  Simmons is currently serving as Co-Director of the Quality Enhancement Plan.  She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Florida A&M and an M.L.I.S. from the University of South Florida.

 

Jennifer Wright is Program Manager in UCF's Office of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity where she promotes academic integrity and prevention of academic misconduct.  Wright's responsibilities include investigating and adjudicating academic misconduct cases, conducting workshops for students on ethical decision making and reputation building, and workshops for faculty on handing incidents of academic misconduct, and appropriate misconduct language for course syllabi.  Wright received her AAS in business administration from the State University of New York at Cobleskill and then transferred to Appalachian State University where she received a BS in business administration and MA. in higher education administration.
