As a UCF undergraduate, you have a number of opportunities to make original contributions to your chosen discipline or field of study through faculty-mentored research, scholarship, and creative activity. Seizing any of these opportunities can bring about far reaching advantages as you compete for admission to graduate school or specialized employment after graduation.

As a researcher working with a faculty mentor you will gain access to firsthand knowledge and insights from an established authority in the field, not to mention a valuable reference. You will have a sounding board to keep you on the right track, open your eyes to new possibilities, and even guide you in directions you might not have expected. Presenting and publishing your research as an undergraduate establishes you early as a voice at the table if not yet an authority in the field. At the same time, through engaging in undergraduate research opportunities you gain the confidence and familiarity with each facet of the research process that comes only through experience – and perhaps some funding to boot.
