A non-profit organization whose mission is to "digitally record, archive and share the world's most significant cultural heritage and ensure that these places continue to inspire wonder and curiosity for decades to come." The site has a number of 3-D tours of endangered cultural sites.
 
The Documenting and Triaging Cultural Heritage (DATCH) project within the Department of Anthropology will develop prototype open-source software for field assessment and documentation of built and movable cultural heritage using mixed reality hardware with or without network connections. It will permit real-time overlay comparisons of cultural heritage against earlier documentation while also enabling the creation of new scaled drawings using gestures, even in field situations with no network connections. When network connections are available additional features such as video calls with specialists and data sharing with management systems will be enabled. DATCH will aid rapid needs assessments of cultural heritage in conflict situations, ongoing assessments of cultural heritage in the field, and enable fieldwork across multiple disciplines.

Published by the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), this handbook is intended to provide advice and suggestions for implementing the intentions of the World Heritage Convention (1972). Among the chapters included are: summary of guiding principles; general policy of the convention; evaluation for conservation; management of World Heritage sites; management by resource projects; maintenance programme; staffing and personnel services; and treatments and authenticity.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage — better known as the World Heritage Convention or WHC — identifies and helps protect international sites of such exceptional ecologic, scientific, or cultural importance that their preservation is considered a global responsibility. Included at this site is a list of current World Heritage sites, as well as the publication World Heritage Papers.

Evaluating Internet Sources

Why is it important to critically evaluate information found on the Internet? Mainly because anyone can publish information on the Internet. The Internet does not have reviewers or editors; there is no quality control. There is no guarantee that the information you find is accurate. Many pages are not updated.
