The Ringling

Disposition Unknown: The Barnum Herald Collection used to be available in PALMM. -- "Images in the herald collection come from the holdings of The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art collection. Heralds were a popular form of advertisement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Circuses used clever language and images to proclaim the arrival of a show. The Ringling Museum’s Circus Herald Collection includes nearly 300 show titles, including Barnum & Bailey, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey, Al G. Barnes, Cole Bros, Forepaugh-Sells, highlighting performances around the United States and Europe....The Ringling Herald Collection catalog is a searchable database of over 1200 circus heralds. Searching of the collection can be done by title, printer, location, date, subject, and full-text description. Digital images are available for every record. PDF documents are integrated with the catalog and can be searched individually."
