UCF Office of Experiential Learning

"The Office of Experiential Learning, in Undergraduate Studies, promotes and instructs applied learning courses for students, supports quality experiential learning course development among faculty, and assists employers to meet their workforce development needs. Each year, over 20,000 UCF students participate in experiential learning courses including Cooperative Education (Co-op), internships, and Service-Learning."

  • "Cooperative Education (Co-op) is an academic program that allows students to apply classroom theory in practical work settings and gain personal, academic and work skills over multiple semesters."
  • "Internships are academic courses that allow students to apply classroom theory in a practical work setting and gain personal, academic and work competencies."
  • UCF defines service-learning as "a teaching method that uses community involvement to apply theories or skills being taught in a course. Service-learning furthers the learning objectives of the academic course, addresses community needs, and requires students to reflect on their activity in order to gain an appreciation for the relationship between civics and academics."
