An introtuction to OA Books

It has become increasingly common for university and other scholarly presses to make their monographs freely available. These range from out-of-print titles to new releases. Some top-rated university presses, such as NYU, California, and Minnesota, even have imprints or platforms devoted to publishing exclusively OA titles. This section is not comprehensive, but it highlights some of the most forward-thinking publishers in this area.

Cornell Open: A Global Open Access Portal
Cornell Open is a global open access portal for both new and classic out-of-print titles from the distinguished catalog of Cornell University Press. Funded by the Humanities Open Book Program, a collaborative effort between the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Cornell Open offers open access to key titles in the fields of anthropology, classics, political science, literary criticism and theory, German studies, and Slavic studies.
Edinburgh University Press
Edinburgh makes open access books available to download for free from our website. They are also distributed to institutional libraries through open access distributors.
