Set-up FAQs

How do I get into Leganto?

In Canvas, click on the Leganto link in the left-hand navigation bar.

What if the Leganto link isn’t showing in the navigation bar?

Click on Settings at the very bottom of the navigation bar. Choose the Navigation tab on the Course Details page. Find Leganto in the bottom list. Click and drag the Leganto box to the top section in the location you want it to appear on the navigation bar.

Can I get into Leganto without going through Canvas?

Yes. You can access Leganto at https://ucf-flvc.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/leganto/public/01FALSC_UCF/searchlists&auth=local. Click on Create list to begin.

How do I start creating a list?

Once you are in Leganto, you will see two boxes: Create a list from scratch and Create from an existing list. If this is the first list you are making, choose the former. If you already have an existing list and want to work from it, you can choose the latter.

Is there a preferred method for naming the list?

Yes. It is best to follow this formula when creating your list: [course code] [course number] [instructor’s last name]. Example: HIS 123 Bizon. (You can add a section number if you are teaching multiple sections of a course.) Following this formula will help the library manage all the Leganto classes.

Do I have to link my Leganto list to a course?

No, but if you don’t, you will not enjoy the full benefits of Leganto such as giving your students easy access to the materials or letting you track usage of the materials.

There’s no course for me to link my list to.

You can create your list without linking to a course. You can contact Joe Bizon, the Learning Resources Librarian, at Joseph.Bizon@ucf.edu to inform him that you’ve created a new reading list. He’ll then create a course and link your reading list to it.

What do I do on the Create sections page?

You can choose how you want your list to be organized. The Default setting gives you one section where you can list all your resources. If you prefer to arrange your list by Modules or Weeks, you can choose one of them from the drop-down menu. If you choose one of those, you will then be prompted to enter the number of modules or weeks you’d like to include. When you are done, click Create list at the upper right.

If I made a mistake in the set-up, can I fix it?

Yes. You can edit the list by clicking the List menu (three dots) along the top. Choose Edit list to make changes.

What if I don’t like the list and want to start over?

You can delete the list by clicking the List menu (three dots) along the top. Choose Delete list to get rid of it.

Can I have multiple lists in Leganto?

Yes. You can create additional lists on the Lists page.
