Contemporary Women's Issues

General Information:

Contemporary Women’s Issues (CWI) contains information on women in more than 190 countries, contained in approximately 2,200 sources dating from 1992 to the present. This database allows searching by geographic areas and subject areas. All articles are indexed by subject and the database contains mostly full text. Sources include mainstream periodicals, gray literature, and the alternative press.

Search Tips:

CWI has only one search screen.

You can search the full text, title, author, subject area, geographic region, article type, publication type, specific source name, and date.

Boolean operators and, or, and Not and the proximity operator near are supported.

A subject thesaurus is provided under Help.

Use the asterisk (*) for truncation.

From the results page, click on the page icon to retrieve the full text. The far right column provides the word count.

Long articles are often divided into multiple files/parts.

Articles can be marked and displayed together for printing or email

SFX for finding full text that is not provided within CWI is not an option.
