Social Work Abstracts

General Information:

Social Work Abstracts contains more than 45,000 records relating to social work topics such as homelessness, AIDS, child welfare, family welfare, substance abuse, aging, legislation, and more. It indexes and abstracts articles and other resources from 1977 to the present with links to the full text where available.

Search Tips:

From the UCF Library home page select Articles & Databases. Click on the letter “S” and select Social Work Abstracts from the alphabetical list of databases.

Enter keywords into the search boxes.

NEVER select the Linked Full Text option below the search boxes. Instead, use the Get Full Text icon to find each article from the Results list.

The asterisk (*) can be used to search for the variation of words. This is also known as truncation. For example, to search for all variations of the word “education”, such as “educator or educational or educate”, you can use the asterisk after the letter “t” to find all variations, like this: educat*

The asterisk is placed after the letter “t” because this is where the variation begins. The database will search for all words that begin e-d-u-c-a-t.
