LegalTrac is a subscription database that provides access to articles on federal and state cases, laws and regulations, and legal practice. It indexes approximately 1,300 titles including major law reviews, specialty law and bar association journals, legal newspapers, and a number of general interest publications dating back to 1980. The full text of articles is provided for a number of the resources and 109 titles are peer-reviewed.
Preferences (top right of the Search Screen) allows you to select the number of results you want displayed on a page, limits, etc.
Not everything is provided in full text.
Field options (e.g., selecting to search by keyword or by subject) are in the left column on the Advanced Search screens.
Other Search Screens are Basic Search, Subject Guide Search, and Publication Search.
The truncation symbol (any number of characters) is an asterisk (*); the wildcard (one character) is the question mark (?); the exclamation point (!) represents either one character or 0 characters (e.g., product! retrieves product or products but not productive).
Boolean operators and, or, and not are supported.
Results are presented under the tabs, Academic Journals, Magazines, Reference, News, and Multimedia (presents image only results and has very few entries).
Related Subject Terms are listed in the left column of the Results Page; the type of document and camera/image icon if appropriate is provided on the right.
You can limit your search to documents with full text, peer-reviewed publications, documents with images, publication date, publication title, and publication subject.
Suggested citation formats are provided on the full record page.
From the Results Page, you can select: How to Cite; Save in APA, MLA, or plain text; or export to an identified citation management program.
Machine translations are available for several languages.
Options to print, email, and download are provided.
