Mental Measurements Yearbook

General Information:

Mental Measurements Yearbook is an EBSCOhost database that contains the full text information about and reviews of all English-language standardized tests as included in the printed Mental Measurements Yearbooks. The 9th to 18th yearbooks are available electronically through this database. These are comprehensive analyses of more than 2,000 tests. Complete reviews, which contain information on the tests’ purpose, population tested, publication date, administration time, and descriptive evaluations may be available. These are not the tests themselves. Areas covered include psychology, education, business and leadership.

Search Tips:

Search Mental Measurements by using the default Advanced Search to make your search more precise. Clicking on the dropdown arrows to the right of the search boxes  will allow you to choose a specific field to search for your terms. Scrolling down to the bottom half of the search screen provides options to limit your results, also. If you are just beginning your search you may want to leave the choice as the default Select a Field. As you continue your search, narrow it by choosing specific fields either in the dropdown boxes or the boxes in the bottom half of the search screen. The Results page allows you to “narrow results by subject” by clicking on one of the suggested subject terms in the column to the left. That term will be added to your search.

Using the asterisk (*) to truncate a search term such as “educat*”, will retrieve the terms educate, educator, education, educates, and any other ending of the word.

The wildcard replaces a single character, wom?n will retrieve women or woman.

Clicking on the title of the test name, the HTML or PDF link takes you to the information on the test. Reviews may not be available with each test. The information at the top of the screen provides details on the acronym, purpose, number of reviews, population and other items. Scrolling down below this information will take you to the reviews (if available) and any information on the test. Please note that the review(s) are written as one document and you will need to look for the ending of one review and beginning of another to separate them.

The test information can be emailed, saved or printed. Several selections can be emailed as a group by clicking on Add to Folder and then emailing from the folder by clicking on Folder has items.

Search History keeps a record of your searches while you are in the database. Click on Results next to a previous search and the results of that search will be brought up again. Revise will bring up the search and allow you to change it as needed.
